Turkish Foundation for Waste Reduction data reveals the massive paper usage in the business world. Accordingly, daily paper usage per person in an office is 0.7 kilograms, in other words, 140 sheets. In finance centers and banks, this figure reaches 0.9 kilograms, that is 180 sheets daily. İşkur data for 2019 demonstrates the number of people who work in the finance and insurance sector is 192.904, and as a result, 34 million sheets of paper are used daily in this industry. As approximately one pine tree produces 73,000 sheets of paper, about 465 trees are cut daily for the financial sector alone. That means more than 169,000 trees annually.
The irresponsible behavior of people caused global warming and unnatural climate change, which was the reason for the conflagration that started in Australia in September 2019 and is still not brought under control. While 27 people died during the conflagration, approximately 10 million hectares of land have been destroyed. According to the statements, 1.25 billion animals have either lost their lives directly or indirectly due to the conflagration, and one-third of the koala population has vanished.
There are numerous disasters that would remain uncontrollable even if the whole world unites and would cause enormous damage, yet that is actually preventable only with the support of one sole person. One drop of water we waste irresponsibly is the reason these flames surrounding the world will not extinguish.
As CottGroup® family, we first kindly ask our inner circle, then the whole world to be more mindful of turning off the faucets if they run wasting water.
CottGroup® is aware of the responsibilities and the importance of the contribution to social life aside to its recognition in the business world. It has become a social principle to take part in various social responsibility projects every year as a philanthropist corporation.
We had merged our strength with the Ministry of Education (MEB) to build a library for a primary school, in 2018. With the guidance of the institution, MEB, Imece Primary school was selected the school where were to build the library.
Within the scope of this project, a book collection campaign was carried out on the basis of a list of accepted books submitted by MEB, which were to form the library to be established by our employees. The project was carried out on complete voluntary basis.
Our library is still under construction. When completed, we hope that it will contribute to the education of children, who are to become the leading future of our country.
